THE SWELL x SPRING EQUINOX
STEP 01 — DROP INTO YIN.
this is not a practice to be rushed — dedicate time + space for the ritual. come exactly as you are + remember to give yourself some moments before you begin to really set your space. light a candle, burn some palo santo, put on something that makes you feel comfortable + create a cozy spot for yourself. need — a couple of pillows xx
STEP 02 — GRAB YOUR JOURNAL.
you can’t do this wrong, just write and keep writing. if it evolves into something else, that’s okay too. make a list, draw a picture, or simply fill the page. ask yourself —
01. what is quietly asking to begin in your life?
02. what would you plant if you trusted your growth?
STEP 03 — LISTEN TO THE MEDITATION.
STEP 04 — DISSOLVE + DRAIN.
open up your journal to a fresh sheet + at the center of the page place the word you just dissolved from the meditation — “how do I want to feel this year?” — grow upon it. use the prompts in the image below to help you bring the feeling to life — it’s abstract, let it be.
STEP 05 — LISTEN + LEARN, WHAT IS THE ENERGY OF RIGHT NOW?
the vernal (spring) equinox marks the moment when day and night are in perfect balance as the sun crosses the celestial equator moving northward. from this point forward, light begins to overtake darkness in the northern hemisphere.
it coincides with the beginning of the astrological new year — the mark of the transition into aries season. the archetype of aries is instinctual + initiating, it acts without hesitation and without permission. it embodies the part of us that says, “i will go first” without fear, without overthinking. it doesn't yet know the whole path — it simply moves.
the months prior we have found ourselves in the depths of winter, the most concentrated yin energy — a period of gestation. the darkness gives us space to let things fall away, to rest in what is relevant + important, to recharge + realign with our hearts. the equinox is the moment when what has been quietly forming beneath the surface begins to swell toward expression.
it is the first undeniable movement toward life, the unmistakable rise of momentum. beneath the surface of winter, things have been quietly gathering — energy, ideas, desires, questions. the energy of the equinox prompts us — what is quietly asking to begin in your life?
STEP 06 — ACTIONABLE STEP — WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW.
what am I committing to? — the opposite is often the medicine.
